2012 Suzuki DR-Z400S Quick Review

New Suzuki DR-Z400S

Packed with impressive performance credentials and all-world handling capabilities, the new Suzuki DR-Z400S allows riders to travel on just about any imaginable surface. Its lightweight, compact design provides crisp handling everywhere from tight trails to wide-open fire roads.

The DR-Z is the only D-P bike of Japanese origin displacing 400cc. It also has all the conveniences you’d expect in a street bike, including electric starting and a well-designed instrument cluster. It comes standard with a 398cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine that produces usable amounts of low-end torque. Suzuki equipped the DR-Z with a five-speed gearbox that limits a rider’s choice of power delivery. The Suzuki DR-Z400 has no direct competition in terms of displacement and price, making its performance and $6,199 MSRP a combination that’s hard to dismiss.
