The distinctive model carries the same equipment as the S version with the addition of the new generation DDA+ with special GPS lap time function as well as a titanium racing muffler kit* by Ducati Performance. *Country specific.
The monocoque attaches to the chamber heads of the new specially premeditated engine, protruding assuming to refuge the management coil bearings and forming the airbox along the way, which is capped-off and corked when the 1.9kg (4.2lb) light metal gas vessel is engaged, again using one constituent to the fulfill the roles of two.
The transmission on the 1199 Panigale has been reworked, with bigger, stronger gears to go along with its wet, oil-bath clutch, similar to ones used on the Multistrada and Diavel.
The clutch has a slipper function where its self-servo mechanism compresses the friction plates under engine drive.
All 1199 Panigale versions rove on Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres, at 120/70 ZR17 for the beguiler, and 200/55 x ZR17 on the elevate – the widest straighten hoop ever fitted to a road-going Ducati Superbike.
Ducati has come up with its new Superquadro engine that is essentially an L-twin, four valves per cylinder engine which gives it an edge over its immediate competitor.
Its Desmodronic system of valve control has given way to a gear-drive and chain combination to control the bigger titanium valves that are meant to provide inlet and exit way of dimension 46.8mm and 38.2mm respectively.
Ducati has used in its 1199 Panigale a revised version of the clutch system that it has been using in the Multistrada and Diavel which is well lubricated and complements the bigger, better and robust gears that have been incorporated well.
What makes the Ducati 1199 Panigale the most effective superbike of its kind is the kind of electronics that has gone into it.
The surprise that was in store for the Ducati lovers was its decision to do away with its trademark trellis-style body and use a monocoque body. The reason behind this move has been to enable the machine feel light, reduce friction and achieve that magic figure of 195hp that it has been boasting about.
Versions & Price
The Ducati 1199 Panigale comes in three versions — 1199 Panigale S, 1199 Panigale, and 1199 Panigale S Tricolore and all of them are interesting to say the least and all of the three are unique in their own way.
The prices are standard in this segment with $17,995 for the basic; $22,995 for the ‘S’ and $27,995 for the ‘Tricolore’.
